Latest UPDATE UK Charity Commission investigation

i am writing to give you a quick update about our ongoing statutory inquiries into safeguarding and charities linked to jehovah’s witnesses.. as you may know, one of our inquiries is into watch tower bible and tract society of britain.
we opened this inquiry in 2014. watch tower then initiated what turned out to be protracted litigation against us.

One Thing I Don't Get About Brexit
by JW_Rogue inhow did such a weighty decision get put directly in the hands on the average citizen?
and with only a simple majority required?
in the usa the biggest thing that people vote on directly is city building projects or infrastructure.

The EU issue has devided the Tory party for decades. David Cameron took a calculated gamble that by having a referendum he could settle the argument. He lost. Boris Johnson is an opportunist that thought that if he led the leave campaign and lost but with a significant leave vote be would be ideally placed to be the next PM. He won, and in doing so he lost because if he becomes PM David Cameron is leaving a poison chalice for the next leader of pulling the article 50 trigger to leave.
I guess the moral of the story is don't use your electorate to have a proxy leadership power struggle. Their vote may just surprise you.

Did others experience this on the ministry or among JWs generally?
by slimboyfat insometimes it's hard to know if our own experience of jws was typical and what features were peculiar to our own area or the individual jws we knew personally.
i was wondering if others experienced this among jws:.
a few times on the ministry, when we were working wealthy areas with large houses, some brothers and sisters would make the comment that they look forward to taking ownership of one of these big houses after armageddon, when the worldly people have vacated them.

Heard it many times. We've had some very affluent areas in the congregations I've been in and I think sometimes this conversation is a way of JWs dealing with the cognitive dissonance of paradise postponed in a sort of "I thought I should have been in my dream home already so I'll daydream instead" way.

by The Rebel inonce upon a time i started a thread who is your favorite thinker and got many responses.
however revisiting that thread i noted we were to modest to name ourselves or fellow posters.
i therefore think we are either complete idiots, or modesty aside we should now name names, and restrict our answers to posters on the board.. so who on this board is your favorite thinker and why?.

by slimboyfat ini know that some people on the board have experience of being mormons, so i would be interested in your feedback.
at church this afternoon it was an uncanny experience.
in the past i've read a lot about mormons, so i thought i was prepared in general for what it would be like.

There are a lot of legitimate complaints about the closure of JWR. The irony of a "recovery" site pulling the plug is not lost on me. But neither is the irony of one or two of the most vexatious members of JWR coming over here to stick the boot in.
